1. What if my floor joists or existing ceiling is not level?
Before installing EZTrack, you must make sure that the floor joists or existing ceiling is level. If this is not the case, the joists/ceiling will need to be shimmed so that it is level, before any of the EZTrack rails are installed. If the ceiling is not level and EZTrack is installed, the ceiling will have a wavy finished look.

2. What kinds of tiles can I use with EZTrack?
With the EZTrack system, any 1' x 1' (12" x 12") tongue and groove tile or 4-foot x 6-inch plank can be used.

3. How do I remove a tile once the ceiling is installed?
When the EZTrack system is completely installed, the tiles may be removed. To remove a tile, you will need to start against the wall where the border tiles are a 1/2-inches short from meeting the wall. You will need to work your way towards the center of the ceiling removing the clips and taking down the tiles. When your work behind the tiles is complete, the clips and tiles can be reconnected. You will not be able to take out a tile in the middle of the ceiling without taking the tiles out around it.

4. How do I install lighting with the EZTrack system?
Any type of lighting that can be used with a drywall ceiling can be used with EZTrack. Whichever type of lighting you choose, you must make sure that it is mounted to or suspended from the floor joist, and NOT resting on the tile or the grid. When installing lighting with EZTrack, you may want to install all of the rails first. Then you can install the lighting so that it doesn't interfere with the rails. When you have the lighting completed, you can then finish off the ceiling by attaching the tiles to the rails with the clips.

5. In which direction do I install the EZTrack rails?
If the installation of EZTrack is on an open joist ceiling, the rails need to be installed perpendicular to the floor joists. If the installation is being done on a finished ceiling, the rails can be put up in either direction.
6. Can insulation be used behind EZTrack?
If you choose to use insulation, our recommendation is to put up the insulation between the floor joists. Then install furring strips to the bottom of the floor joists, in the opposite direction of the floor joists, to support the weight of the insulation. You can then install the EZTrack rails to the bottom of the furring strips. We do not recommend using insulation directly behind the ceiling as it is too heavy for the clip and rail system.

7. Is it necessary for me to use a corner molding?
After you have the EZTrack system completely installed, we recommend that you put up some type of corner molding. The corner molding is added support for the border tiles along the walls and gives the ceiling a finished look.

8. Can EZTrack be suspended?
The EZTrack rails and clips are made of plastic. For this reason, EZTrack cannot be suspended or hung with wires. If your ceiling needs to be lowered, you can shim your floor joists down and then install EZTrack.

9. Do I need lay my room out so that I have equal border tiles on all sides of my room?
The Room Planning section of the installation guide goes through step-by-step instructions on how to lay out your room with equal border tiles, giving you a more professional look. However, you do not necessarily need to have equal border tiles. You can start a room with a full panel and cut tiles only on one side.

10. How do I install EZTrack if I am using 4-foot x 6-inch planks?
If you choose to use 4-foot x 6-inch planks with EZTrack, you will install the planks so that the 4-foot side of the plank is running perpendicular to the rails. Your first rail will be installed 1 inch from the wall, with your second rail being 10 inches from the wall. After you have the second row of rails installed, every row after that will be 12 inches apart.
11. Do the rails need to end on a floor joist?
When you are installing your first rail, you'll want to cut it so that it ends on a floor joist. All of the rails after that should end and begin on a floor joist.

12. Where is my second row of rails installed?
The second row of rails is installed 2 inches less your border tile, away from the wall. For example, if your calculated border tile is 10 inches, your second row of rails will be installed 8 inches (10 inches - 2 inches) from the wall. Since every row after that is 12 inches apart, you should ALWAYS have a rail two inches in from the edge of a tile.

13. How often do the rails need to be attached to the joists?
The EZ Track rails need to be screwed to a floor joist or finish ceiling every 16 inches. If you are working with an open joist ceiling and your joists are more than 16 inches apart, 2x4's will need to be put up between the joists. Attaching the rails any further than 16 inches will cause your ceiling to sag.
